Born and raised in Cape Town, Mike has been tailoring luxury holidays to South Africa for more than 25 years so there’s not much about South Africa he doesn’t know and love.
Favourite destination: As a born and bred Capetonian, one would expect Cape Town to be my one and only love! That is certainly not far from the truth, however having spent some considerable time in the Mpumalanga Province, an area of great historical, scenic and wildlife diversity, even I have to admit that few regions in the world can match the extraordinary beauty of the Lowveld and escarpment. I certainly count myself fortunate having lived in both the most beautiful city in the world and arguably one of the most beautiful regions in the world.
Favourite activity / pastime: Rugby (having represented the Blue Bulls at junior level) and cricket has and will always be my passion and a highlight was without doubt watching the Springboks take on and beat the Wallabies in the opening match of the 1995 Rugby World Cup at Newlands, their first appearance since the fall of Apartheid.
Best thing about South Africa: Now that father time is catching up on me, it’s taking time out to contemplate life whilst sitting with a glass of my favourite wine overlooking the awesome Swartberg Pass (in Klein Karoo), as well as showing my beautiful granddaughter, Cerys, all my favourite childhood places. It certainly makes you realise how insignificant mankind is in comparison to the forces of nature.
Brian is extremely passionate about his country of birth and wants to share this love with as many people as possible.
Favourite destination: I love Cape Town and everything this wonderfully cosmopolitan city has to offer. From beautiful white sandy beaches just 10 min from the city centre to a wealth of amazing restaurants. Not even to mention the spectacular Table Mountain which is definitely not to be missed. What can be better than sitting on top of Table Mountain looking down over the city with a glass of wine, watching one of the most amazing African sunsets you will ever see? The views and the sense of peace is truly something that stays with you long after you are back home.
Favourite activity / pastime: I am an enthusiastic Protea Cricket Supporter and love watching them play at Sahara Park Newlands with the backdrop of Table Mountain.
Best thing about South Africa: The sunny weather almost all year around!
Erika’s passion is passing on her infinite knowledge of South Africa and all its hidden gems.
Favourite destination: I absolutely love the Garden Route with everything this beautiful area has to offer. Here you can do anything from sitting, relaxing with a glass of wine and some great food, overlooking some of the most spectacular views, to doing the highest commercial bungee jump in the world or even white water rafting.
Favourite activity / pastime: Relaxing on white sandy beaches, drinking a good glass of wine overlooking spectacular vistas.
Best thing about South Africa: Sipping a glass of champagne on a warm evening, watching an African sunset over the ocean. Just magical…
Abbigail is our Jack Russell who enjoys lazing in the sun.
Favourite destination: Abbigail prefers the West Coast because it’s quiet and peaceful which allows her to forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. She can sit in the sun, relax and await her favourite fresh fish for dinner. What better way to contemplate the mysteries of life?!
Favourite activity / pastime: Sleeping, eating & going for walks – nothing strenuous, that’s the West Coast way of life!
Best thing about South Africa: Warm weather and fresh fish all year round!
