When to go:
Both the winter (May to August) and summer (September to April) have their benefits for enjoying the thrill of a safari holiday. In winter the foliage is less dense and the game more visible as they seek out the scattered waterholes. During the summer months the animals have their young, the vegetation is appealingly lush and the late afternoon African storms (particularly in the Kruger National Park, Limpopo Province, North West Province and KwaZulu-Natal) are spectacular.

Game viewing in the Eastern Cape is good all year round as this region experiences low rainfall throughout the year. As an example, the average summer rainfall in the Kruger National Park is 109mm whilst in the Eastern Cape this is only 41mm.
