Christiana Lodge is an architect designed lodge in the select area of Solar Beach, between Robberg Beach and the Brakkloof Wetland. Robberg Beach is a 5 minute walk away along a wooden boardwalk and the distance to town is only 4.5 km.
The lodge overlooks a largely unheralded natural feature of the Plettenberg Bay area: the Brakkloof Wetland and broad panoramic views include the imposing bald outcrop of Robberg nature sanctuary and the craggy cliffs of Whale Rock Ridge.
With open spaces and natural light, colours of the earth and splashes of blue, modern finishes and clean lines punctuated by the character of wrought iron or aged cane, Christiana Lodge will transport you to a state of utter relaxation.
From the golden afternoon light that fills the house and the sounds and smell of the sea at Robberg Beach – just a short, 5-minute walk away – to unsurpassed wetlands views enjoyed from your private balcony, deck or even a plunge pool, this is a place to be carefree.

Although a slight drive out of the town, this modern, architect designed lodge is well worth staying at. Excellent accommodation in minimalist style surroundings. A very friendly, family run establishment. Great breakfasts, and they provide excellent evening meals as well where the family cook and eat with the guests. If you want to eat out, they are happy to make the reservations for you at restaurants of your choice. I would strongly recommend a meal at Zinzi. A few kilometers out of the town, it has a superb menu, and a superb ambience. Don't miss it! I can thoroughly recommend Christiana Lodge.
Nothing not to like!
We were offered a choice of 2 rooms and chose the one with the larger sitting area
Room felt a bit damp - the weather's fault It was well out of the town centre and as there was no restaurant we had to drive out for dinners. I would have preferred somewhere more central.
Garden Route tours typifies diversity and offers a pleasant Mediterranean climate. With its abundance of closely-protected nature reserves and National Parks, Mother Nature presents visitors with an up-close and personal experience with the best she has to offer – the world over.
The Western Garden Route encompasses fresh water lakes, lagoons, forests, the towering peaks of the Outinequa Mountains and miles of beautiful beaches. The area is a Garden of Eden; home to the Knysna elephant, the Knysna seahorse, Knysna dwarf chameleon, the brilliantly coloured Knysna Loerie, wild coastal oysters, dolphins, whales and much more.
A natural garden of magical forests, blue-crisp mountains, Fynbos and pure crystal water best describes the Eastern Garden Route. Also known as the Coastal Route East, it quite simply encapsulates South Africa’s inherent ‘green’ magnificence and is a must for all visitors who adore and yearn to embrace stunning outdoor splendour.
Sports and natureSporting activities include numerous world class golf course; the worlds’ highest commercial bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge (216m); Treetop Canopy Tours; Hiking and Canoeing, whilst the splendour of nature is simply at every turn during your journey. The Wilderness and Tsitsikamma National Parks; Featherbed and the Robberg Nature Reserves and the National Lake Area in Knysna must be on every visitors itinerary; the Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland and Tenikwa Wildlife & Rehabilitation Centre allows you to get up close and personal
NightlifeThe flavours of the ocean influence much of the cuisine. Expect the freshest seafood – from the catch of the day to coastal and cultured Knysna oysters. Wine and dine your way through a formidable array of fine restaurants, seafood taverns, pubs and other interesting eateries.
Culture & historyYou can’t call something a cultural “experience” if you are a spectator. You have to dance the Hotnot’Riel around the fire, listen to storytelling of the Outa, sit and sample the Mielies & Bone with some Roosterbrood and Konfyt. Experience a cultural tour led by a guide with authentic Griekwa ancestors and stand next to the burial place of their beloved Paramount Chief A.A.S.Le Fleur to realise how accurate this psychic leader’s prophecies were. Discover the colourful townships and experience their essence. Take this opportunity to explore cultures different to your own and absorb the true spirit of living local.
