FRANSCHHOEK / WILDERNESS (GARDEN ROUTE) – Two Nights ‘17:

Diversity typifies the Garden Route and it offers a pleasant Mediterranean climate. With its abundance of closely-protected nature reserves and National Parks, Mother Nature presents visitors with an up-close and personal experience with the best she has to offer – the world over.

The Western Garden Route encompasses fresh water lakes, lagoons, forests, the towering peaks of the Outinequa Mountains and miles of beautiful beaches. The area is a Garden of Eden; home to the Knysna elephant, the Knysna seahorse, Knysna dwarf chameleon, the brilliantly coloured Knysna Loerie, wild coastal oysters, dolphins, whales and much more.

Wilderness is renowned for its tranquil sea and beaches that stretch on forever. There are 2,500ha of National Park with five rivers, five lakes, two estuaries and 18km of coastline. Knysna nestles on the banks of the beautiful Knysna Estuary, surrounded by a natural paradise of indigenous forest, the Outeniqua Mountains and a rugged coastline.

Boardwalk Lodge is arguably one of the most successful and popular retreats in the tranquil seaside village of Wilderness. Set high on the slopes above the village, a short stroll from the beach and lake below, the lodge’s innovative design, exclusive features and excellent facilities provide the ultimate Wilderness experience.

WILDERNESS / PLETTENBERG BAY (GARDEN ROUTE) – Two Nights ‘17:

A natural garden of magical forests, blue-crisp mountains, fynbos and pure crystal water best describes the Eastern Garden Route. Known as the Coastal Route East, it quite simply encapsulates South Africa’s inherent ‘green’ magnificence and is a must for all visitors who adore and yearn to embrace stunning outdoor splendour.

Plettenberg Bay, the St. Tropez of South Africa is dubbed the “Jewel of the Garden Route”. Plettenberg Bay offers 28km of unspoiled beaches plus the Bitou and Keurbooms Rivers, as well as the famous Robberg Peninsula that extends some 4km eastwards, providing a sensational natural buffer against the prevailing winds. With its exceptional climate, and beautiful views over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Christiana Lodge is an architect designed lodge in the select area of Solar Beach, between Robberg Beach and the Brakkloof Wetland. Robberg Beach is a 5-minute walk away along a wooden boardwalk and the distance to town is only 4,5 km. The lodge overlooks a largely unheralded natural feature of the Plettenberg Bay area: the Brakkloof Wetland and broad panoramic views include the imposing bald outcrop of Robberg nature sanctuary and the craggy cliffs of Whale Rock Ridge.

The ten spacious bedrooms, designed with great attention to detail, are luxurious yet uncluttered with custom made king size beds, crisp white linen and soft furnishings that reflect the best in South African design. Bedrooms are fully equipped with internet access, flat screen television screens with satellite tv, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, safes and bar fridges. The design of the rooms and balconies also ensures VIP privacy.

PLETTENBERG BAY / AMAKHALA (SAFARI) – Two Nights ‘17:

The Eastern Cape is South Africa’s second largest province and although unjustifiably underrated as a game destination, it is malaria free and offers a wide variety of wildlife in both national (Addo National Park) and private game reserves.  The Eastern Cape is home to various nature reserves, marine reserves and game parks, where a wide variety of fauna and flora can be found. It is a malaria free area, making it the perfect safari destination, especially for first time safari visitors and families. The area supports prolific birdlife; and game includes, among many others, the Big 5 (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo), and is a natural extension to the famous Garden Route.

The Amakhala Game Reserve began in 1999 as a joint conservation venture. Today, six independently owned lodges of The Heritage Collection, are all TGCSA Star Lodge accredited. The lodges are owner managed by the descendants of the original families who arrived here with the British settlers of 1820. The lodges offer various styles of accommodation, which include two gracious colonial homesteads, two classic bush lodges, an historic inn and a Settler farmhouse.
