Established in 1995, Cape Tours is a specialist tour operator with 25 years personal experience and knowledge of South Africa. We specialise in creating personal memories that will last you a lifetime. We have developed an intimate knowledge of South Africa from living and working there and we use this knowledge to help our clients design their own individual African experience.

Our business has grown primarily from word of mouth, with many repeat customers who have fallen in love with South Africa and what a Cape Tours holiday brings them.

The air holidays shown are ATOL Protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is ATOL 6138. ATOL Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in the United Kingdom.

What’s different about Cape Tours? Well, a few things…

Quality and Value

All our properties are handpicked and inspected at least once a year to ensure they continue to meet our exacting standards. Our trusted and personally researched network of contacts, facilities and accommodation provide a selective list on which your personalised itinerary is based. The result is a uniquely tailored holiday but at significantly lower prices than offered by other major South African tour operators.

100% Tailor-Made

Unlike standard tour operators, Cape Tours offers the opportunity to select and personalize every individual detail of your trip. When you plan your itinerary with us, we spend considerable time establishing exactly what you want from your African holiday. This enables us to better advise you on places to visit and to suggest the most suitable tour content and venues. You can select your accommodation from five star hotels to rural cottages. Cape Tours has a vast portfolio of properties from which to choose.

Special Activities

We can pre-arrange sporting and recreational activities; for example, surfing, horse riding, sand boarding, white water rafting, rock climbing, diving, whale shark tagging, or whale watching.

Local Representation

Our attention to detail means every aspect of your trip is considered, and to ensure continuity of our service, we have a fully qualified and accredited tour operator in Cape Town, supported by our resident representative to attend to your every need during your trip.

Meet the Team

Mike Tompkins

I was born and raised in South Africa, and have been looking after clients visiting this beautiful part of the world (and beyond) since 1995. As a South African, I have been fortunate enough to be able to explore much of this beautiful country (as well as neighbouring countries), so there is very little I do not know about South Africa.

I have explored all the nooks and crannies of this beautiful land and I love nothing better than to direct my clients away from the well-trodden tourist paths, and to instead introduce them to the real South Africa.

My sole objective is to structure each and every holiday to meet my clients specific expectations, by applying my vast local knowledge and passion but still listening to you the client, to ensure that they not only return year after year but that they act as our ambassadors, recommending family and friends

As I was born in Cape Town I can not only give you a local’s point of view, but with my many years’ experience in the travel industry, I can help show you more than just the touristy side to South Africa.

Favourite destination: My favourite place in South Africa is Cape Town. It has everything you need. From beautiful white sandy beaches just 10 min from the city centre to a wealth of amazing restaurants and bars. Not even to mention the spectacular Table Mountain which is definitely not to be missed. What can be better than sitting on top of Table Mountain looking down over the city with an ice-cold beer, watching one of the most amazing African sunsets you will ever see? The views and the sense of peace is truly something that stays with you long after you are back home.

Favourite activity / pastime: Im also a lover of sport. And being in South Africa, you have no shortage of that. From watching the Proteas at the most beautiful ground in the world, Newlands, to going to Ellis Park in Johannesburg to watch the Boks. Or take a more relaxed approach at one of the many world class golf courses.

Best thing about South Africa: The sunny weather almost all year around!

Abbigail is our Jack Russell who enjoys lazing in the sun.

Favourite destination: Abbigail prefers the West Coast because it’s quiet and peaceful which allows her to forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. She can sit in the sun, relax and await her favourite fresh fish for dinner. What better way to contemplate the mysteries of life?!

Favourite activity / pastime: Sleeping, eating & going for walks – nothing strenuous, that’s the West Coast way of life!

Best thing about South Africa: Warm weather and fresh fish all year round!
