Mfuwe Lodge

Location: South Luangwa National Park

Set around two lagoons, shaded by a canopy of ebony and mahogany trees, Mfuwe Lodge is the perfect place to ease into Luangwa life. Located just inside South Luangwa National Park, less than an hour drive from Mfuwe International Airport, you’ll be amazed at the ‘deep in the bush’ feeling of Mfuwe Lodge.

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game, and giraffe, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon. Walking safaris can be arranged on request, but most outings are game drives. In November, the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.

The open plan reception, lounge, dining, and bar areas overlook two lagoons, and the wallowing hippo and thirsty wildlife will keep you enthralled. 18 air-conditioned chalets are scattered around the gardens and secluded verandas outside each provide a lovely vantage point for the comings and goings. Inside, each chalet has a comfortable sitting room, imperial King or twin beds, and a spacious en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The suites have an additional seating area upstairs, and the family rooms have ample space for two children.

This game-rich area won’t disappoint even the most seasoned Africa traveller. With day or night game drives, and incredible guides, who are dedicated to your memorable experience, you’ll enjoy every moment of the outdoor activities around Mfuwe. A pride (or two!) of lions, resident hippos, herds of antelope and buffalo, giraffes and hyenas, baboons and crocodiles, even wild dogs, and impalas… you’ll want to snap photos of all of this and more!
