The Klein Karoo / Route 62 has a landscape fashioned almost entirely by water, ranging from lush greenery in the fertile river valleys to short, rugged Karoo plants in the veld. Gorges follow rivers that cut through towering mountains and passes cross-imposing terrain, leaving one stunned by the magnificence. The long narrow valley is rich in geological shapes, culture, history, Bushman art, prolific plant species and is also the home of the spectacular Cango Caves as well as the largest bird in the world – the ostrich.

Rosenhof Country House is a gracious, Victorian-styled lodge, situated on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, Klein Karoo en route to the world famous Cango Caves. The lodge is a traveller’s haven near the area’s ostrich farms, magnificent mountain passes and the attractions of the Garden Route. Antiques, rich fabrics and carefully selected works of well known South African artists create a distinctive ambience. A garden gazebo is the perfect spot for appreciating the fragrant rose gardens, indigenous bird-life and vistas of the beautiful Swartberg Mountains.
