We throughly recommend booking with Mike at Cape Tours. It was our first time to SA and he was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations and knowledge of places to stay in Cape Town, along the Garden Route and safaris. He also provided suggestions of the ‘’must sees’, where to eat, comprehensive driving routes between destinations and useful travel tips. We had the most fabulous holiday and hope to return again

We have used Cape Tours for many years, more recently for safaris. The Cape Tours service is always friendly and very efficient and we are always confident that the holiday experience will be fantastic. Mike Tompkins ensured the places we originally visited in South Africa, many years ago, were far superior to any other major travel agency at the same cost. Our recent safaris have consistently passed all expectations and been the most amazing experiences we have had. Accommodation has been superb and the game viewing out of this world. Accordingly we trust Cape Tours for all our subsequent holidays.

I cannot recommend Cape Tours highly enough. We have now had three holidays in in southern Africa and Mike has made all the arrangements for us on each occasion. We had two visits to South Africa in 2016 and 2018 and have just returned from our first visit to Namibia. Each time Mike has given us advice to iterate to an itinerary which suits us and then he has made all of the arrangements. All of the hotels have been fantastic - and somehow Mike has managed to get us some of the best rooms within the hotels. I also appreciate the advice we get on what to do and where to visit during our holidays. Its a very personal service and all at a very competitive price. This year Mike arrange a great visit to Namibia for us including most of the major holiday locations (Kalihari desert, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Otjiwa Game Lodge). The organisation was perfect and again we stayed in great hotels in great locations. Its a very special place! During our visit to South Africa in 2018, we started with a safari in Kichaka Game Reserve before travelling across Route 62 to Paternoster on the West Coast. The spring flowers around the West Cost National Park were something really special! We then travelled on to Franschhoek (just the most fabulous village in the Winelands) before finishing off in Hermanus. We will return to southern Africa again - no doubt will the help and advice of Cape Tours...

Mike arranged our trip perfectly, all the accommodations were beautiful and the way it was put together worked wonderfully. To top it all off, he helped arrange the proposal to my girlfriend. We both cannot thank him enough and would recommend his services to anyone who is looking to travel to South Africa

Another fabulous holiday to Kenya booked with Mike and Cape Tours. All plans went smoothly with Mike using Cheli & Peacock as ground handlers in country; the concierge service from landing was first class, with a handle-holding service provided from the moment we touched down until our departure 10 days later when C&P managed to get us through business class entry for departures avoiding a massive queue at security scanning. The booking process was as seamless as ever and having benchmarked Cape Tours against other mainstream providers I continue to find Mike’s competitiveness vs quality a key differentiator. The camps were all fabulous and we had some of the best game viewing we've experienced in 7 years travelling all over Africa with Cape Tours. Having visited Africa on 11 occasions since 2015, across ~30 lodges staying in South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Rwanda I would think of booking with no another operator beyond Cape Tours. We visited Zimbabwe/ Zambia in July, are just back from Kenya last week and I'm heading off to Zambia again mid-Oct. For the latter deal, Mike was able occasions to secure a fantastic deal/ discount through his ground handlers making an otherwise cost prohibitive safari possible. Mike and Cape Tours Ltd deliver every time and I'd happily recommend them to any new clients. The personal touch that comes from a smaller independent agent is a key differentiator for me with Mike always only a phone call away!

We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday in South Africa arranged through Mike at Cape Tours. The itinerary, accommodation, recommendations for activities and restaurants were all first class, as was local information and directions between destinations along the garden route. Even when there was a minor issue during the trip, Mike dealt with it very promptly. The original departure date was Dec 2020, then Dec 2021 so this was 3rd time lucky. Mike patience and understanding through out this process has been excellent and we are glad we used Cape Tours to help create lasting memories.

Zambia Accommodations

Lower Zambezi National Park

One of Africa’s Great Wilderness Areas, The Lower Zambezi National Park gets it’s stunning sceneryfrom the combination of 120km of Zambezi River front, the concentration of game in the valley floorand the backdrop of the magnificent ZambeziEscarpment, the Southern limit of the Great EastAfrican Rift Valley. The park is opposite Mana Pools National Park, a World Heritage Site across theZambezi River in Zimbabwe.

The National Park consists of over four thousand (4092) square kilometres. The park is bordered bythe Chiawa Game Management Area (GMA) in the West, Rufunsa GMA in the East, the Zambezi Riverin the South, and the Great East Road in the North.

The park receives few visitors today, but it won’t be long before the great potential is realised andthe Lower Zambezi National Park slowly becomes more and more like the other crowded parks ofAfrica.

The Lower Zambezi National Park has a large variety of faunal species including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects, distributed in varying densities and in complex and diverseeco-systems.

During your stay in the Lower Zambezi, you will have a very good chance of seeing the following largemammals: elephant, hippo, buffalo, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu. Of the carnivores, there are solid numbers of leopard, lion, and hyena. Other commonly seen animals are wild dog(African hunting dog); serval and the African wild cat. Smaller animals include the side striped jackal;dwarf, slender & banded mongoose; large spotted genet; civet; tree squirrel; honey badger;porcupine and aardvark.

These animals are widely dispersed during the wet season because there is plenty of water andforage. In the dry season they are largely concentrated along the valley floor, the banks of the riverand islands in the Zambezi River
